The autoclaves in the LABOKLAV 44x series are powerful large units with a square sterilization chamber, ideal for small to medium batches or as an addition to large central sterilization units. Available in single- or double-door versions, they offer flexibility for various applications. A flexible media sensor allows for direct temperature measurement in the medium during liquid programs and, thanks to the thermal barrier according to IEC 61010, prevents the chamber door from opening if the media temperature is too high.

The Laboklav 446/449 combines state-of-the-art autoclave technology with a well-thought-out design – meeting the highest standards in laboratories, research, diagnostics, and industry.
The square stainless steel chamber offers optimized usable volume while maintaining a space-saving design, allowing for particularly efficient loading.
These devices are versatile and available as both a single-door model and in a pass-through version – ideal for cleanroom applications or for the spatial separation of contaminated and sterile areas.

Piping
The user can choose between two types of piping:
- Copper/brass pipes and valves
- Stainless steel piping with Tri-Clamp fittings (optional)
Housing
The sterilizer housing is made of stainless steel to facilitate maintenance.
Chamber Doors
The chamber doors are made of high-quality stainless steel 316L. A pneumatic drive moves them vertically.
Seal
The sterilizer uses a pneumatically operated seal located in the chamber groove to ensure an airtight closure. Once the door is closed, air pressure is applied to the groove, pressing the seal firmly against the door and sealing the chamber.
Maintenance is quick and easy – the seal can be ejected from the groove at the push of a button. After inserting a new seal, it is pulled back into the groove using the vacuum system, also at the push of a button.
Water Ring Vacuum Pump
The sterilizer is equipped with an efficient water ring vacuum pump that removes air from the chamber. The pump can achieve an ultimate vacuum of -93 kPa (7 kPa absolute). To reduce vibration, it is mounted on anti-vibration pads.
The feed water used during vacuum generation is separated from the air, cooled, and recirculated to the pump to minimize water consumption.
Valves
Pneumatic control valves ensure precise regulation of steam flow into and out of the chamber.
Validation Ports
The sterilization chamber is equipped with two measurement ports:
- Connection for a pressure gauge (pipe thread ISO 228-G1/2 "A)
- Connection for a temperature sensor (pipe thread ISO 228-G1 "A)
LCD Touchscreen
The sterilizer features a clearly readable 7" LCD touchscreen with an intuitive and user-friendly interface.
Air Intake Filter
For cycles with vacuum drying, ambient air is introduced. An integrated sterile air filter ensures this air is sterile – removing 99.999% of particles sized 0.3 µm or larger.
Steam Interlock Door Switch
Prevents steam from entering the chamber when the door is not securely closed.
Safety Valves
Safety valves are an important safety feature in pressure equipment. Their primary function is to protect life and property in the event of an overpressure incident. For this reason, LABOKLAV 44x sterilizers are equipped with three safety valves connected to the following components:
- Pressure vessel of the steam generator
- Sterilization chamber
- Door sealing system
Emergency Stop
The emergency stop switches are located on the loading and unloading sides (for double-door versions). They serve two functions:
- Immediate stop of a moving door (either opening or closing) and activation of an alarm
- Interruption of an ongoing sterilization process, closing of all valves supplying the chamber with media, and shutdown of the steam generator heaters (for sterilizers with integrated steam generator)
Safety Bar
Each door is equipped with a safety bar located at the top of the door. This prevents injuries to personnel and damage to products when the door is in motion.
Water Level Sensors in the Steam Generator
The steam generator is equipped with two water level sensors:
- Upper sensor – helps maintain a constant water level
- Lower sensor – switches off the heaters when the water level drops below a defined safe minimum
Pressure Monitoring
Two analog pressure gauges, located on the upper front of the device, display the current pressure in the chamber and in the steam generator.
Steam Condensate and Cooling
To ensure safe disposal of condensate, it is cooled to below 60°C before being discharged. This also ensures that the drainage pipes are not damaged by heat.
Thermal Protection of the Steam Generator
Sterilizers with an integrated steam generator have additional overheating protection. A temperature limiter shuts off the heaters if the boiler body temperature exceeds safe limits.

Option M: Rapid Cooling
(with integrated rapid cooling system)
A powerful rapid cooling system for liquid sterilization significantly reduces cycle times and enables multiple sterilization cycles per working day.
Option S: Counter Pressure
(for open vessels)
only in connection with Option M
When the cooling system is expanded with the support counter pressure option, liquids in open containers can be sterilized without loss, further reducing the cycle time.
Exhaust air filtration – to protect the user and the environment
An exhaust filter system protects users and the environment from harmful germs that may be released during chamber ventilation, enabling the use of the autoclave in laboratories starting from biosafety level 2.
Air Detector
In autoclaves or sterilizers, an air detector is used to identify air bubbles or accumulations that could interfere with the sterilization process.
Bio Barrier
A Bio Barrier is a protective barrier designed to securely separate clean and unclean areas.
Stainless Steel Piping / Triclamp
The stainless steel piping offers corrosion resistance, hygiene, easy cleaning, and durability, making it the preferred choice. It is also available in a version with stainless steel valves and Triclamp fittings.
